Article on Teesside by Ruth Sunderland

Air products shut the place down because of corrosion and design problems primarily, cost them a $1billion dollars apparently. There are 2 fully/ partially built energy plants on teesside that have been mothballed and almost certainly will never operate. There is a another energy from waste plant planned too but that won't be built either. If you want a more realistic view of the these and other project you are better off reading articles on north east bylines website.
Which plants are you referring too?

This is just a shill article she will have been handsomely paid for by Ben sea creature killer. Come along I know it pains the Tory voters that the party that both Blindboy and yourself voted for is as much use as death, but I’ve been following this Carbon capture crap for 10 years- it’s all on you tube on the hydrogen revolution and there’s 100s of articles.on it.

Didn’t a cpmpany spend a billion on Teesside only to shut down without producing much carbon because it wouldn’t work. I never had you down for this sort of tricks for Ben Sea polluter and serial BS.
Got as far as 'shill'.

Quite an interesting process, the waste has a cost and so has the coal, will BP be able to do this were others have failed?

I would imagine ICI would have been able to do this
What on earth are you talking about? BP are not in the business of producing energy from waste on Teesside and that is not what the article is about. BP intend to build two plants on Teesside, one to produce blue hydrogen from existing resources using carbon capture, and one to use wind energy to split water into its component parts, ie. oxygen and hydrogen. Using an example of a plant that was not in that business and which failed in 2016 is evidence of nothing. You may as well use the snow dome as evidence.

Wilton is operational.
TeesREP should be generating within the next few months and Port Clarence is being converted to Energy from waste.

Hello there BBG.

Sorry for the late reply but I will give you an answer back.

I thought you inferred by "anybody" to which company lost a billion on Teesside and shut their site ?.

But obviously not and thank you kindly for putting me right.

Anyone?

BP and its carbon storage. from the Shill article

BP is leading three low-carbon projects. Net Zero Teesside is a gas-fired power station with carbon capture technology, which could produce enough electricity to power up to 1.3 million homes.

The carbon capture and storage will happen in a saline aquifer called Endurance, 90 miles off the coast of Teesside in the North Sea.

H2Teesside will be one of the UK's largest blue hydrogen facilities. The hydrogen will be produced from natural gas with the aim of providing 10 per cent of the Government's target by 2030. It could capture and store up to 2 million tons of carbon dioxide a year – equivalent to 2 million households – which will be sent to Endurance.
one to use wind energy to split water into its component parts, - this must have now become very very cheap to do, as it was so expensive to do their was no cost benefit. Perhaps that saline aquifer - which has to be in safe and non earth quake geological area will bring us business from places all over the world.

You have to capture the emissions of cO2 from the natural gas which used to produce Hydrogen- otherwise we will be just be causing more cO2 to be released. Hopefully they can do this in the north sea- It has been demonstrated it can be done, it can done using with the several different processes of gasification since the 1970s in the USA.

It will be good that BP will produce Hydrogen to power cars and households too, reduces emissions from oil and petrol. I bet BP will be very keen on this, and will reduce our reliance on Oil but not natural gas but gas will last forever and ever I suppose. Producing our waste wont ?

Going back to the reporter from the Daily Mail.

"There have been dashed hopes in the past, but one reason for optimism now is the commitment of large companies including BP, the FTSE 100 oil giant.

BP is one of the firms investing billions of pounds in the old 4,500 acre site, now known as Teesworks, which could create 20,000 new jobs as the UK epicentre of hydrogen – potentially the clean energy of the future.

The ambition is for Teesside to be at the forefront of the new green industrial revolution, just as it was for the original Victorian one.

Once an impregnable Labour stronghold, the old steel site is bang in the middle of the Red Wall.

The political energy behind Teesworks comes from the 36-year-old Conservative Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, recently ennobled by Boris Johnson."

I agree with Anton its not a Shill article from a far right newspaper.

If only she had written something for Andy Preston he would still be Mr Middlesbrough. I suppose his supporters will know times a great healer.
