Arthur Sousa Corinthians CF Brazil

South American agents love to link us with players, most of the time it’s utter horse sh1t to help them get a better deal or make another club hurry along abit with an offer. I expect theirs nothing in this. I think the recent South American duds are likely to make us focus on players who will likely acclimatise quickly.

Who is Arthur Soze? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. He's gone.

He plays for Corinthians U21s... so I can't see this being a genuine link unless we're buying him cheap and then loaning him back to Brazil.

He popped up as a potential player for me to scout as the Boro manager on FIFA 23... I may have found the source of this 'story.'

Who was that other random Brazilian player we were linked to earlier in the transfer window? Yuri Alberto? Why are we just being randomly linked to Corinthians players

Because we regularly pin our hopes on South American punts - Payero, Muniz last season.

I mean, Muniz was on loan from Fulham and Payero's the only player we've dipped in to the South American market going after some total unknown since like 2004.

I don't think there's really any regularity to it for us at all.

Eh? Short memory if you don't remember Carlos De Pena.

Whilst we signed Muniz from Fulham on loan, that was only because they pipped us in our pursuit to buy him from Brazillian team.

Alright, so like two since 2004. Three at a push, if you want to include that random player on loan from Boca we had for the U21s in like 2016 or whatever. And three in 20 years still doesn't equate to it being a regular thing.

The rules around work permits changed not too long ago. We used to only be able to bring players in from South America if they had a European passport. What is deemed as exceptional to allow a work permit for a footballer has been relaxed so bringing in players from South America is now easier than it was. We have links with former players over there and I presume a scouting presence so makes sense that we will see more young South Americans coming directly to the UK, including us.
