Army/Navy reserves

Is anyone on here a current army or navy reservist.. or have you been in the past?

If so, how did/do you find the experience? How did it fit in with your full time employment?

I'm interested in finding out more and potentially looking at going through the basic training.

RNRs do very little time at sea as a reservists. I'm a sponsored RN reservist (paid £25 a month for the honour) but as I'm still at sea in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, I do the same job as I did in the RN as a MOD contractor but I don't have to worry about it interfering with a civvy job.
I would have thought you'd get a lot more interaction with the army regulars as a STAB 😉

I was in the army reserve when I left, it’s okay but it’s nothing like the real thing, it’s not the fault of the reserves but I liken it to being in the cadets if you have never been a regular. You get a £10,000 bounty or you did which was split over 4 years as long as you kept up with your training objectives and minimum days.
