Can you imagine the backlash if Harry Kane was dancing about signing about previous British war exploits. I doubt much will come of it mind.

Still a very sore subject in Argentina. Doesn’t stop the players earning a trade in England of course.
 
They can't get over how stupid they were back then or how woeful their armed forces were. Its obviously still an open wound on them.
Shame really, I'd rather the two nations consigned that to history with due respect held for all those who served and lost loved ones.

I was fairly ambivalent about who I wanted to win, but that clinched it. Vivre la France.

And Poch as next England manager, o thanks. Mind you imagine their national meltdown if he managed England to a victory over them at the next wcf.
 
I remember speaking to someone that served over there and they had an experience where they ran into a load of Argentine soldiers who had their disposable cameras out, they were given the impression that it was basically a holiday in military costume. They got a shock when they saw the British army with machine guns.

Yes most of the Argentinians were conscripts and as above came up against arguably the best fighting force on the planet.

A total of 8,000 Argentine conscripts served during the war in which 649 were killed.
