Are Reading the real deal?

I remember Charlton were up there for the first 5 or 6 matches of last season, and I've been waiting for Reading to fade away like Charlton did.

However, they keep winning. They can lose their next 2 and they'll probably still be top.

So when do we start think of them as genuine title contenders?

After Christmas.
They looked solid at the back and have pace and power going forward. A couple of years ago their wage bill was more than twice their revenue, and its still high Now. They will probably be play offs minimum IMO.

They seemed like absolutely nothing special to me, but you can't argue with that points tally.

I think theyl drop away but most clubs have potential for the playoffs.
Swansea and Watford seem the best for me so far for top 2 .

I reckon they could stay up there if their attacking players stay fit.

They have looked a long way better than anyone else we have played.

Reading do get themselves up there ever other season or so . We all want top two though don’t we , not sure anyone will runaway with it .

They've got a decent balanced first XI and are playing with confidence, but what happens if they get a couple of injuries or a loss of form for one or 2 players? Ask again after 20 games.

The attacking qualities Reading possess were in evidence during our fortunate home win against against them last season. They battered us for the final 20 minutes-or-so and it was only thanks to a combination of great saves from Randolph and poor finishing that prevented them going home with any points. They also had the tightest defence outside last seasons top 8 so its no real surprise to see them putting things together this time.
In saying that, only Bournemouth have looked a cut above us so far this term imo.

Think they'll eventually come back to the pack. Can't see them continuing that type of form and them staying 7/8 points clear at the top.

In their promotion season they only had 18 points after 15 games lower mid table. After that they won 23 more games in 29 drawing and losing the last two games after promotion was achieved They are certainly on a run like that at the moment. They have skilful midfielders and strong forwards who know where the goal is. Can they continue or will they come up against more brilliant skilful dogged creative teams that stop them from scoring

Interesting isn't it. I'm sure the bloke on TV last night said that they'd had the fewest attempts on goal but the most goals.

Their ability to not concede is the big one. Only 3 so far?

That's efficiency for you, whether it's long term or not remains to be seen.

Just had a quick check, the only time they had more attempts on goal than their opponents was the game they didn't score in.
