Archer and Akpom

You can’t defend too deep because Akpom gets left with loads of room to drop off into, but you can’t play a high line because Archer is lightening quick.

the midfield all buzzing about behind just make us great to watch.

My only concern is how easy we give the ball away at times. Daft passes etc.

Archer, Akpom & Forss..

Not since Bamford, Stuani & Vossen have we had such.. good stuff!

Agree superb players, pity we couldn't have signed Archer on a permanent basis, we did try, some signing that would have been

Yup, it's hard to defend against, especially man to man, which is why teams try and pick up Chuba with the midfield (who are bad at at) leaving Archer to the centre backs, where one can stand off to try and cover his pace. Problem is that leaves either Hackney, Forss or McGree free, who can do damage in different ways. It's all reliant on Howson following up with the attacking play, and the defence pushing up too, if they sat back it wouldn't work. It leaves us a bit susceptible to pace at the back, and balls into the corners, but we manage it ok.

We're going to give the ball away playing the quick passing style, it's risk v reward, and as we have good players we'll get good value on it.

They all play their role. McGree and Akpom pop up all over the place - adding to midfield and forward numbers at different times, which must make it really difficult for defenders.

This is exactly why I don't think the Crooks as a striker idea works. I know we got a few results (and he got a few goals) but he doesn't do what a proper striker does which is make the runs and occupy the defenders which leaves all that space for Akpom. They end up being too close too each other. I prefer Forss up there if Archer isn't playing.

he works great as a sub, because if them 2 are not working then he is offering something different.

he is no good when the team is just pressing the life out of us better than we are with them as it plays into that where AA works against it very well, but he defs is a good way to change things up front when that does not work, do not want to see him as a starter and no reason he would start now with archer fully embeded in the squad, I think forss would take archers place if he was injured

We will always give away daft passes, because we aren't an elite team.

We're playing a type of football/tactics that Arsenal/City do...so we will obviously give chances away and give the ball away as we don't have world class players like they do.

Similar to Steffen. He's not a world class keeper and we're asking him to be effectively a sweeper so mistakes will happen (see Cardiff away). However, I wouldn't change a thing as it's brilliant to watch and we are benefitting from the risks v rewards.
