April 3rd 1982 Sunderland v Boro

Got a massive kicking after that match very close to the Bridge.
Great win, not so good after that.

I’m sure I went by train but remember getting escorted to seaburn to get on coaches to the ground, but can’t remember any bother.

Sorry to hear that Indeedido - but kudos for going and being there, it wasnt for the faint hearted going to roker as a Boro fan in those days.
Had been for the Bosco 1-0 winner when in side paddock the season before.
Miles smaller crowd for the 2-0 the following season. Baxter did go mental pointing at himself.
We arrived too late and just stuck the car over the bridge. Got ambushed at the big junction there, they came from all over. No chance really, lucky I got up. I got a warning off a Boro lad as we approached the junction, but we had no option but to plough on.
You're right Wilf it just went with the territory back then.

We got the train that day but they didn't let us off at the main station and took us to somewhere else. I remember walking to Seaburn and get a kick up the backside off a Bobby when I bent over to tie my mates shoe lace. He had just broken his arm and his laces kept coming undone, so I decided to tie them for him and got the kick up my jacksy for my trouble.
