Anyone used motorway to sell their car?

Looking to sell in a couple of weeks, thinking of selling private as these car companies rip you off (had experience selling works vans and they knock money off for everything)

Heard Motorway always on the radio advertising. Wondered if it’s easy?

Thanks

My mate did a couple of weeks ago and said that they needed plenty of photos for the dealers to take a look, they gave a fair price which they stuck to and collected it with no hassle, which was a major plus point living in a rural area.

My only advice when dealing with any one of these cash for cars companies is be prepared to tell them "No thanks". If they start knocking money off for trivial things just tell them no. The guy collecting it is then wasting his time and could well have a long walk back to the station/bus stop. Call their bluff. So don't leave it to the last minute and get quotes from more than one company.

I've always used webuyanycar and never had a problem, takes 5 mins and its done. They've never knocked the online quote down so far after 4 sales.

Sold my BMW 135 to we buy an car. They knocked £800 off the the quoted price because the cars service was not carried out on the actual day it should have been. Robbing Tvvats.

I’ve used Car Wow, and they’re pretty much the same as motorway. It was really easy to do and I ended up getting £2k more than I was happy to accept. You basically agree a minimum price and they then send your car to auction. If it goes for at least the agreed price it’s sold. Anything more it goes for is money in your pocket.

It’s worth getting quotes off most of these companies as I found there was a bit of variance from one to the next.

I've never used Motorway. Yet these companies have a bad rep. I've sold a couple of cars through We buy any car and had no issues and never had to haggle. They payed out the quoted price. They weren't 'bangers though'.

The two offers were significantly more than the garages offered on a trade in. Infact one was £1050 more. The other £675. So accepted both and went back to those dealers and purchased the car I wanted.

No worse than car dealerships. They still 'kick tyres' etc. The one that annoys me is saying they have to take off £90-£100 per wheel to fix curbing. Yet never do repair them. Just stick it on the forecourt a couple of days later.

I'd try Motorway and We buy any car. See what they offer or maybe play them off against each others offers.

Motorway don’t work on the same model as WBAC.
Motorway will give you an estimate of what you can expect to get for your car when they auction it to dealers.
If it sells you’ll be sent the highest bid. It may be a little more than their estimate, it may be less.
There’s a very very small chance it won’t sell at all.

If you’ve described the car accurately. That’s the figure you’ll receive.
That’s the key thing though. They request lots of photos, and if there’s any marks they will come back and ask for more detail before they put it to auction.

I don’t quite grasp the part where they’ve robbed anyone there. They made an offer, if it’s not good enough don’t accept it.

This isn’t solely aimed at you btw, its quite a common thing to hear them called out as robbers.

They offer a convenient way in which you can sell your car, be guaranteed the cash there and then with none of the risks, or effort that come with trying get the best price by selling it private etc.
They themselves take all the risk on the car, and then hope that they can turn a profit in the market.
Obviously it’s profitable or they wouldn’t be doing it. But I suspect the margins aren’t huge.

We Buy Any Car were OK although they have this amazing ability to see a scratch that's invisible to everyone else.

I sold my car with Motorway 2 weeks ago , it’s sold for what they said it would go for plus a little bit extra , when the bloke came up to take the car away he inspected it thoroughly and did not try to chip me at all. I was paid there and then . It was an absolutely top-notch experience so much better than we buy any car.

I flogged my car on Motorway last year, they tried to chip me so I told the bloke to get back on the train, he rang his boss and they paid the agreed price.
My Mam used Motorway a couple of times since and had no issues at all, All depends which dealer turns up

Done it twice now. Incredibly easy to do once you get used to taking all the photos they want in a very specific way. Both times I got more than the estimate, in the case of my wife's Juke, over a grand more

I put all my car details with pictures in with We Buy Any Car and Carwow and got two identical quotes. When I went to SG Petch to look at a car they offered me £1500 less for my car than both of these. I showed them the quotes I had received and they said the above would knock money off and SG Petch could only offer the book price. I told the salesman that I was no longer interested in the car and that the deal had all depended on me getting what the two online buyers had offered. He asked me not to be hasty and that he would speak with his manager again. Lo and behold, he offered me the same price as the above.

I refused to use them because of their close association with Schofield. Used Motorway and they were brilliant, gave me a fair price and explained why, and then really nice bloke who came to collect the car.

It's the model of often trying to get a knockdown price when they know the seller is now invested. Those house buying companies do the same thing, offer 20% below market value and then few days before exchange say they've reevaluated if and offer a huge amount less knowing the sellers are desperate and by then banking on getting the cash.

It’s almost like a business was trying to maximise their profit!
