Anyone tested their internet speed?

It doesn't quite work like that.
It does with Vodafone. They take a percentage off of your monthly bill if your speed drops below what you a paying for for an amount of time. You just report it through their broadband app and bobs your uncle.
I've done it twice.

TBH I wouldn't know how to, at least now I may learn something

Interesting, and big bugbear of mine with virgin is how much lower everyone's upload speed is coated to download. My upload speed is actually quicker.

Certainly in the States, the upload is always slower than the download and advertised as such.

It's kind of ignored in the UK. Everyone just concentrate s on download speed.

Fair enough when everyone is just streaming Netflix. But people are using video conferencing a lot now. No point having a high definition webcam if your upload speed is poor

Got 100 mbps symetrical over fibre from Jazztel. Just tested it across wifi to the router from my laptop. Got 101.16 download and 106.02 upload.

This thread has got me annoyed now. I hadn't tested for ages and now I know my figures are terrible I'm not happy. Maybe our whole apartment block is WFH? Hyperoptic have pretty much a monopoly here so it could be killing them. Just tried to download a large file from work and it's taking a few hours.

Sorry.

Upload speed doesn't really affect me on a day to day basis.
From time to time it helps when I am uploading videos to youtube.

Also, two friends have invited us to a Zoom dinner party tomorrow night. Just the 4 of us. Two of them, two of us. So decent upload speed should come in handy. I guess this might be something we end up doing with different people around Europe from time to time.

Quick test here in sunny Weymouth.

Thats slightly above my advertised speeds. I'm switching to business broadband soon so it'll be more consistent.

Can only dream of those speeds;)
We get around 25 here both up and download. We are on rural broadband and can't get unlimited broadband through the wireless router, but can on a phone plan.
Fastest places around here are Dunedin, they won an Internet provider competition for better broadband and also fibre, and Wellington, owing to Peter Jacksons studios being there.
Fibre is coming in now, and all the schools have it, but we've got no chance out in the rural areas.
