Anyone self isolating with C19

I was hit with a positive lateral test last Monday and confirmed with a PCR test on Tuesday however my last two laterals have been negative. Obviously riding it out till 9th just to make sure. Double jabbed and only a small cough and the lack of taste and smell so no real biggy, thank you scientists for that.

I and my son are currently at day 8 of our isolation, I am double jabbed and tested negative but my son was positive with two lateral flows on Friday last week and confirmed by PCR the next day. He had a sore throat and a bit of a cough, a bit lethargic for a few days but back to his normal self now thankkfully. My boy has autism and is very attached so our time together is literally side by side, honestly think without the jab it would have been inevitable I would have caught it too.

I second your sentiment, thank you scientists.

Glad to see the lad has come through it. To be fair I have had worse colds and feel fine just the small ailments and obviously the restrictions to save others from it. I like hot food and made the mistake of putting too much Chilli and Garlic sauce on a meal, could not taste anything but fook did it burn.

It's sod's law that you could taste none of the flavours but feel all of the pain! My sympathies sir.

Yeah, I am unsure if I have had it, although last summer I had 6 months where I became a shell of myself, I found out I was celiac around the same time though so could have been that. Those I know that have had it though the symptoms have been varied, from very similar to yourself to hospitalisation. It is crazy how varying it affects people, and scary, you just don't know how you will react.

I believe it's in your make up. Our kid had it bad, rushed in but luckily no fluid on his lungs, his wife nothing. Both sisters are Coeliac and so was my Dad. Not a nice thing to be burdened with but luckily more and more eateries are offering a greater choice, hard to believe that some every day items have flour in and having to be carful. It's defo a lifestyle changer.

Yeah, it was a shock when I had to start checking everything for wheat and barley, it is in so much stuff. I have found a few good eateries that offer goof GF choices, some though, "is that the bread thing" that line is my prompt to leave. At home it is easy to manage, I can cook reasonably well and my diet is not massively different, pasta and bread aside ( I refuse to pay £3.50 for 8 slices of the worlds smallest bread). Going out I am finding a bit of a minefield, unless they make a dance about being GF, it is hit and miss they actually are, a lot of places just take the bread off a breakfast but don't have separate friers etc. I have been caught out a few times but it is something I have gotten better at identifying as times gone on.

Defo a minefield but it's getting better. The GF yorkies look OK and at least you can get gravy now. The UK was way being the Continent but are catching up. My sis loves them Snowballs and Mrs Crimble's GF range. She has tried to make her own bread but obviously it's not the same as your daily loaf and never will be.

Those snowballs are a real treat, I was happy to discover them, always a favourite as a kid.

If you can bake to a decent standard then you have a chance of making your own half decent gf bread. Rather than just using a bag of gf flour like Doves Farm you can experiment with blending your own.
Try and avoid internet sites that are following the non-medical gf lifestyle trend though and go for those that are written by those with genuine and often severe gluten intolerance.
I've a number of family members who are sufferers and I know your pain at finding genuinely gf places.

Thanks, Duderooni, a new rug heading your way ;)
Yeah, I have found a few of those GF lifestyle sites, and try to avoid them if I can. I can bake, I just don't do it often, I have been told finding a blend is the way forward. The Jamie Oliver GF Yorkshire Pudding recipe has about 6 different flours in, it was a little offputting if I am honest, but I would be lying if I sais I didn't miss bread. White bread toasted with a slice of butter! My dreams are small ...
