Anyone getting a sense of deja vu

New manager starts by averageing 2 points a game. tailed off end of the season, recruitment underwhelming. Lacklustre opener. Lot of similarities

It’s too early to say that why I used the phrase ‘sense’

I wouldn’t say something doesn’t feel right with the club but definitely been getting last season vibes for the last week or 2.

Sometimes you’re just not very good, doesn’t mean the club is rotten or anything.

I don't think anything is wrong at the club just that we're not going to be top 2 and unlikely top 6.

Too many teams will do what Millwall did to us. The games against the big teams should be cracking though.

It’s like the clubs just going to **** a perfect opportunity to really build on last season, the owner and the recruitment team need to get it right otherwise it’ll turn toxic quickly. Carrick is a brilliant manager he’s learning and commited to the club. But with our lack of activity and a very average side atm if things and transfers don’t pick up he’s head might be turned

By the looks of the forum tonight it’s already turning pretty toxic.

We all need to hold our gravy and let the process do it’s work.

The problem we had at this point last season wasn't that we weren't good enough but that the manager was annoyed at the failures of the recruitment team. Just because Carrick is a better manager than Wilder it doesn't mean he won't be as equally ***ed off if he's been promised certain things and they fail to deliver. He's got a bit more class and sense to mouth off to the press about it but he might be as equally ***ed off which makes it far more likely when the premier league sackings start that he takes an offer.

If we back him and it doesn't work out then at least he is confident that if he stays he can improve and make success more likely. If he doesn't trust his management/recruitment team then why would he be thinking about staying long term?

Something doesn’t feel right with the club

I said this in another thread when someone posted their brother thinks Carrick will be gone by Christmas.

We’ve very much followed the Wilder trajectory with Carrick. He’s come in and immediately turned things around, faltering at the end of the season and ultimately just falling short. Big overhaul promised in the window. Doesn’t happen. Start slowly…

It’s all very familiar.

We looked like we did towards the back end of the season when we were “coasting into the playoffs”. No real urgency. Too many passes infront of their defence. Millwall ran in behind us a lot. A better team would have beat us 2 or 3 today with the chances they had.

Can’t help but think we are still a work in progress. Just hope we aren’t too far behind the pack once we get our team together.
