Yes it has, but not to the extent it is now
Despite its confrontation style I don’t see why the subject of giving this particular World Cup a miss can’t be discussed on a football forum? You would have had to have been buried head deep in sand if you hadn’t realised that this WC was not universally welcomed.strange to post on a football forum that you never watched any football .
Yes. But not watching it isn’t really making a stand, it’s just not indulging it.And sometimes you have to make a stand against it
I said above if it makes them feel good, fair play. But those who have boycotted it did it out of personal principal and not to stop the football going ahead. That was inevitable. You seem to be suggesting that there was nothing gained by boycotting the football. You seem to have missed personal satisfaction. Good on them that did.
No its not its a forum that covers every debate under the sun, obviously its upset sone folk that people have stated they didnt watch any WC footballstrange to post on a football forum that you never watched any football .
it has achieved something.Whilst I appreciate the stance some have taken, not watching it (or posting about not watching it) hasn’t really achieved anything if we’re being honest.
I don’t mind admitting that I’ve totally indulged it as I do every World Cup/Euros. Watched as many matches as possible and even when I’ve been looking after the kids or whatever, it’s been on and I’ve been invested.
I do think it’s terrible that the tournament was in Qatar, but that wasn’t my decision, and I do think some of Qatar’s laws are totally barbaric, but I didn’t make them. If I took such a puritan attitude towards all the stuff I like it, life could get pretty boring pretty quickly.
Sometimes you just have to accept that you can’t cleanse humanity yourself, and just try to enjoy things while you can.
Sunday was an absolute joy and I feel priveleged to have witnessed it live. That’s not down to FIFA, the Qatari state, or anything other than the blokes on the pitch and throughout the tournament. Football is still the biggest & best sport on the planet imho and isn’t going anywhere for a long while yet, despite its obvious flaws.
I do like cricket too, and I haven’t boycotted the series in Pakistan either, despite some of their absurd laws. I presume plenty on here have boycotted that too.
It’s a Boro forum - never been just about footballstrange to post on a football forum that you never watched any football .
Been over it non stop for 3 days now, its incredibleYeah righto chicken, you'll be telling me the Northallerton bypass has opened next !!!!

Haha, chicken is assistant manager at Majestic Wines so he's the only person in Northallerton not happy....Been over it non stop for 3 days now, its incredible
The OP itself inferred that everyone who said they were going to boycott probably hadn’t. So, let’s not pretend there was no mischief in it.it has achieved something.
Firstly, I feel a whole lot better for it. btw - I’m happy for those who enjoyed it too).
It has also led to further debate
Sometimes, it’s tiny tiny things.
This thread also brought out the worst in some people. The OP posted asking if others hadn’t watched the WC.
Then people (from a simple wuestion) decided to infer all sorts of stuff and have a go.
Anything to avoid having drive through Northallerton is fine with me, its like a 24 hour le mans but with the cast of Wacky Races on a daily loop.Haha, chicken is assistant manager at Majestic Wines so he's the only person in Northallerton not happy....
PS I could have made some of that up
It’s biscuit. Not cookie. Not sure why you're posting this. Do you want a medal or something? A cookie?
Drive through Northallerton regularly. Seems fine to me. Certainly better than the racetrack which is the A19.Anything to avoid having drive through Northallerton is fine with me, it’s like a 24 hour le mans but with the cast of Wacky Races on a daily loop.
