Anti-war songs

Probably won't be on you tube (and I'm too lazy to look) but many songs from Crass
Fight War, Not wars; Major General Despair; Nagasaki Nightmare; How Does it feel (To be the mother of a thousand dead); They've got A Bomb; Sheep farming In the Falklands etc etc
Make Love, Not War!

The Misunderstood - I Unseen.........................a song about Hiroshima. John Peel was a massive fan of this band.

I come and stand at every door
But no one hears my silent tread
I knock and yet remain unseen
For I am dead, yes I am dead.

I'm only seven although I died
In Hiroshima long ago
I'm seven now as I was then
For I am dead, yes I am dead.

My hair was scorched by swirling flame
My eyes grew dim, my eyes grew blind
Death came and turned my bones to dust
And that was scattered by the wind.

All that I ask is that for peace
You fight today, you fight today
So that the children of this world
May live and grow and laugh and play.

Another take on the same song which was adapted from an original Turkish poem by Nâzım Hikmet. Translation by Jeanette Turner. Adaptation by Pete Seeger (1962)

This Mortal Coil - I Come And Stand At Every Door

Bob Dylan - Only a Pawn in Their Game.........................not strictly a war song but the sentiment is the same. We are only pawns in their games and have been ever since innocent people have been sent to their deaths by the warmongers running countires.

If only Putin thought the same.......................d*ck Gaughan - Think Again

Do you think that the Russians want war?
They're the sons and the daughters of parents who died in the last one
Do you think that they'd want to go through that again
The destruction, the bloodshed, the suffering and pain?
In the second world war out of every three dead one was Russian
If we try with all of our power
Can we not find a way
To peacefully settle our difference?

In the name of humanity, bitterly torn
In the name of our children as yet to be born
Before we do that which can never be undone I beg of you
Think, think again, and again and again and again and again

Do you think that the Russians want war?
Will the voice of insanity lead you to total destruction?
Will you stumble to death as though you were blind?
Will you cause the destruction of all humankind?
Will you die because you don't like their political system?
There will be no survivors you know
No one left to scream in the night
And condemn our stupidity

In the name of humanity, bitterly torn
In the name of our children as yet to be born
Before we do that which can never be undone I beg of you
Think, think again, and again and again and again and again
