Another reason to be annoyed at the Daily Mail...BBC Gossip today

It's hardly suprising. I think we've seen how much of a miss he is when not in the side (if we didn't already know).

The 'heartbeat' of the side that makes everything tick. Also regularly standing out in his England U21 appearances will add to the speculation.

I imagine we would receive a big fee for him. We certainly couldn't stand in his way. No different to Tav or Spence. Although I'm expecting bigger interest and fee for Hackney.

You'd have to say that selling on acadamy products for big money is the ideal buisness model.

A championship has a good young player and he attracts interest. It's not a new thing or a 'typical Boro will sell' etc. It's just unfortunately Standard for 90% of football clubs.

I've made my peace with the fact that our better players leave to go to bigger teams. It's a short career and I wish him every success with it. I'd prefer it to be with us, but recognise that's unlikely.

So I'm choosing to be positive about a likely sequence of events, that's all it is.
 
I think summer is more likely than January. At least the caliber of the clubs watching him (and therefore the prospective fee) is now more befitting of his potential. It was effing Notts Forest last month.
 
Im sure people will complain about the fee, whatever it is, like they did with Spence and Chuba, but remember we can only get what someone is willing to pay.

If he was your son would you be telling him to stick at Boro or go on and reach for the stars and be ambitious?

As a fan of Boro and Hackney, I would wish him all the best in whatever he chooses to do and hope he goes on to achieve great things in the game because I think he has the talent. As long as he gives 100% for the Club while he is here, that's all you can ask for in terms of loyalty in football.
 
He is an incredibly talented footballer and deserves a chance to win some major honors in the game. Unfortunately it will not be with the boro much as it grieves me to say it.

We're in a much better negotiating position this time though given the length of his contract.

He'll be our record sale. I think someone will meet the asking price in the summer (sadly). If we don't go up.
 
10-12 million with add ons.
I think he's a better player than Tav so will thrive in the prem. Just needs to have his head screwed on and not go somewhere daft like spurs.
I still think we have a reasonable chance of the play offs mind and certainly wouldn't write us off for promotion.
