I wonder if the quote for a re-brand was too much.
It reads like some folk have contacted them and said they don't want it changing.

maybe it's because the fans were right for so long and there was nothing wrong with the q986 badge in the first place.. most if not all fans will be STILL wanting it back despite the offer of a complete re-design.

the designers face at the riverside meeting was a picture when he was asking folks about redesigning the lion lol

I've completed mine. I'm totally against changing it in case the club end up with a lot of surplus shirts in the club shop bearing the current crest.
The point to the survey is that
Part of the new rules for heritage or the FA require independent research and findings, hence the club have commissioned YouGov.
It is part of the rules to make sure the process is correctly done - and independently verified.
