and Gibbo has to be looking behind the back of the settee and under the mattress for some extra pennies.

January transfer window is going to be massive. I think we've got what it takes to reach the playoffs, but we'll be found lacking in the goals department should we manage it.
It feels very similar to Karanka's play off final season. Tomlin, Bamford, Vossen & Kike just couldn't push us over the line.
Ramirez, Downing, Stuani & Nugent made the difference the season after.. a massive upgrade! I can't even begin to imagine what that would look like in 2021 (apart from out of our reach)

No better time when confidence is high on the back of a fantastic run of form to bring up areas of concern leading into January where we MUST add more goals to the team.
Players coming to the end of their contracts and others more just as much for their perennial breakdowns and spells on the treatment table as they are their mercurial talents on the pitch.

Watmore - can he remain injury free? he looks the business from what little i've seen. makes it somewhat sweeter him coming from Sunderland. I WOULD LOVE IT IF WE GET PROMOTED WITH HIM!
Fletcher - cracking player, versatile and I do think he's capable of playing in the prem. coming to the end of his contract, will he be looking for a fresh challenge or be the 'new signing of 2021'
Roberts - a special player, but will his body be able to hold up? Part of me thinks we have a long term plan for Roberts.. but then it took so long for him to sign that I question this now.
Britt - big players, strong, experienced, boro captain. coming to the end of his contract, seems to be the elephant in the room at the moment.

Who are we looking to bring in? Hot shot youth players in on loan? Internationals on the fringes wanting to be put in the shop window or toss their name in the ring for a premier league Middlesbrough return?
Not seen much evidence of any of those sorts of goings on. I'm thinking Warnock & Co will be flicking through their scrap book or raggy dolls and rejects to fix the wobbly wheels or to replace any other spare parts that may be working them selves loose.

One striker was night on impossible to bring in last time round, so it stands to reason that we will need more than that rocking up into January.

Grosicki - another to be regulaly linked, missed out on a move to forest but still looking to move in Jan
Woodrow - recently signed a contract extension.. his name's been mentioned on and off for a while now
Bolasie - does he even want to join boro? he's had two chances now.. maybe a third in Jan?
Cosgrove - young, coming back from an injury, unproven in the champo.. sounds like a boro signing.

Anymore for anymore?

The ghosts of transfer window past.. Yaya Sanogo minus the trimming? Nathaniel Mendez-Laing after a few months of erm.. convalescence?

I think the vaccine will open grounds up if we have a date for that in January it could help us increase our budget if matchday money is coming in .

Getting Fletcher back will be interesting. The way he pushed on last year was encouraging. He’s never played in a Boro side that was getting results regularly yet.

If Roberts stays and woth Fletcher back, give Watmore a deal to the end of the season. What do we need really? Folarin looked promising, wouldn’t be surprised to see a bit more of him. We wont do it necause Warnock seems to rate him fair enough, but but i would look to offload Saville. Maybe swap him for similar type. Hes the weak link for me

Saville is far from our “weak link”

If you say so. He’s the weak link for me. We were winning all the second balls until he came on last night. That part of pur team game has been key to our success this year. Saville does little more than make up the numbers and is always one bad pass away from costing is a goal. See the huddersfield hame for his most recent example

I think Howson and Morsy are a very good pairing in central midfield and I would play Tav before Saville personally to be the more advanced of a midfield trio as Warnock seems to currently favour.

It is the final third where we are weakest.
We need another striker and wide creative players with pace who can score.
These places are notoriously difficult and expensive to fill.
Warnock has provided an option in Watmore, has improved Johnson.
Akpom is clearly a better option than Assombolonga for leading the line. May be Fletcher's return will help, but I think a play off push and win can only be achieved with better quality in the final third than we currently have.
I would love to know the position re Roberts as he is stalling at the moment and you wouldthink he could be an asset.

Saville has been outstanding all season apart from Huddersfield game. He’s defiently not a weak link. When Lewis I can’t run Wing came on the weak link entered the field.

We are on course for about 73 points - probably just missing out on the play offs - based on that a bit of adding to could make a big difference.

Nah, we’re on course for the top two. Should be top and clear now. It’ll come.

I think it was the tactics that hindered Bamford, Vossen, Kike and Tomlin, not the quality at this level back in 14/15. We were asking them to do defensive duties out of position first, attack second. Plenty of games that season where their quality shone through.

I think its the quality of the personnel this time, not the tactics.

Maybe not for January but I think Alex Mowatt from Barnsley would be an excellent addition to the squad.

If you say so. Saville and outstanding and words that come to mind for me. Nothing against the lad, he grafts but the return of Morst last night only emphasised his short comings and his potential to be an unnecessary liability

Yes Morsy is vital aswell. But Savile is far and away from being a weak link. He just had an off day against Huddersfield. He’s been vital this season.
