I’m pretty sure we are aligned here. Weiman is unlikely to repeat his season, has no upside and is not comparable in any way to Viduka or JFH.
An older player can make sense for the right package if you are confident he will make the difference you need.

We just wrote off 22 million. Britt and Fletcher. If aren't mindful of your past mistakes you are liable to make them again and again. Most of the people we buy with an eye on resale value haven't panned out. Therefore there's little point worrying about signing on a 30 year old for a few million as the ones we sign hoping to be able to sell them rarely make a profit.

Be mindful of past mistakes but don’t stop making educated decisions because of them.

Ben Brereton Diaz could be the one quoted for £20m , would I pay it , no , I would rather get Armstrong / Undav / Archer , on loan , if it's do able. 2 of them and Gyokores / Riis would give us a chance. CW will have his targets , Gayle and McGoldrick as back ups would make a top class front 5/6.

Did we buy Britt and Fletcher with an eye on resale? I thought they were bought with an eye on smashing the league.

Resale value is only a recent strategy when it comes to the Boro. Pretty much only since Woodgate was appointed.

agreed to an extent, we over payed for them at the time, Britt was supposed to be the finished article. Fletcher was supposed to be a little more project, but able to immediately impact as he had champ experience with barnsley. I'm sure we expected some money back somewhere, but with Britt in particular it was probably expected that we would lose money. Fletcher, I think we hoped to get him up to Britts price and either renew contract or sell.

56 goals in 203 games isn't an established goal scorer. He's had one good scoring season in 7 seaons:

15/16 - 4 goals in 30
16/17 - 2 goals in 30
17/18 - 5 in 40
18/19 - 10 in 44
19/20 - 9 in 45
20/21 - 2 in 7
21/22 - 22 in 45

Maybe the emergence of Antoine Semenyo as a powerful creative forward is the key to Weiman suddenly scoring goals, maybe that's where we should be looking at spending our money (Yes I know he's rated at 20m, maybe if we get promoted we should try and sign him)
