I’d have him too. I remember he needed a few chances to hit the net but he’s better than anything we’ve had for a while.

Shame he wasn’t with one of the northern Little Mixers.
 
Might be a fair shout, we wouldn't get no return on him and probably high wages, but would probably be a good, free addition. Averaged a goal every 120 minutes for QPR last year, much better than any of their other strikers.

I imagine it would be hard to attract him to the North East mind, and he'll no doubt have plenty of interest.

He certainly had no qualms going to Burnley and if he’s a good pro hope it won’t put him off should CW be interested.

True, but there's a lot more going on around Manchester for a 30 year old footballer, than up here (in the eyes of many, not necessarily myself).

Leeds isnt far away. Not playing down the difficulty of him being attracted North but he’s not a young buck anymore looking for the nightlife as he was 7 years ago. He’s getting married this month and has twins to father.

Fair one, sounds like you've done your research (y)

Maybe we can tempt him with walks down Castle Eden/ Wynyard walkway and visits to Saltburn and the Moors. Crooksy can take him out around Yarm when the need arises :LOL:
 
He has a celeb girlfriend who is in that famous girl band (can’t remember the name) and she will want to be near ‘lardon’

A no to Gray and Gayle from me. As someone said little resale value and they are both on the downard side of the hill. Say you get a good season out of either you will need to think about replacing them sooner rather than later. Lets get someone younger, leaner, hungrier who we can develop and have here for a few years at least.

We need a ready made striker this year, even if just for a year. It's the only area along with a keeper where we don't have time to wait, as we're that desperate.

We don't have time to invest in a young player who may hit 20 goals in 3 years, we need it now, we needed it every year for as long as I can remember.

We won't have the money for some young lad who is already scoring 20+, and they will have eyes on the Premiership anyway, and likely also want to be down South or over towards the West.

Gyokeres would get 20 goals for us, and has cracking ability, and is only 23. I'd be breaking the bank to get him, but loads of other clubs will be interested too, and he's probably good enough for the prem already (or Spain/ Italy/ Germany) etc. I think he's the kind of player you are thinking of getting, and I'd love that too, but the chances of finding one and making the deal happen are slim.
 
Seen him on TV couple of times last season for QPR and not really impressed. Always rated him, but the Watford move wasn't a particularly good one....in footballing terms, bank balance is probably healthy.
If we got him as striker #2 or #3 signing a younger, better one and his wages fit into our structure........ possibly worth a two year gamble on a free. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

OR
Gayle fires the goals into the premier league (in a way that gray can’t) and we then use the money from promotion to find an upgrade
 
Watford fans used to dislike him when I visited their board.
Then again they got Fletcher from us :)
 
I would far rather prefer Gayle to Gray.
Gray was fast and **** and has now lost his pace.
If Watford fans were to vote for their worst ever signing, it would be the £18m they spunked on him. They've never lost anywhere near that much on any other player. He scored 21 goals in 125 matches for them.

not for me, mate is a big Brentford fan and slagged him off as a terrible finisher, needs 3 good chances to score 1, and a bit of a billy big bollox while with them.
