You would like to think that somebody who is in a position of relative power would at least know the name of the place they are talking about.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland isn't too much to learn and the clue is in the name. If that's still too much to remember then then they could always just look at the front of the blue Passport.
