American abortion law v Boris Johnson

Let's make it plain, I have always been and will always be against abortion.

However, I have zero rights about how a woman should leave her life or even less how she decides what happens to her body.

The decision is a disgrace.
 
I can think of a couple of yanks that could have made the world a better place - had they not been born. DT and BJ. Their initials speak volumes about their personas.
 
I'm sorry....but it is much bigger news. The biggest and most powerful country, a country that won't let u drink until 21, bans kinder eggs as a "choking hazard" but let's 18yr old buy guns and is now making abortion illegal, potentially. Its an absolute disgrace....their laws are going backwards. And the fact the man in charge of the country can't stop it happening....it blows my mind

I had to reread it 3 times. Yes it should say live not leave.

Again I have tried a better way of saying what I mean without success. Nothing in the US surprises me but it is my favourite country to visit.

I have no doubt the stupid decision will be reversed.

They’re not only far right, they are, the 3 of them, “Originalists” in their interpretation of the constitution.

You think? I reckon that they'll double down on this and come after contraception and same sex marriage.

If only the women of those States that choose to amend the current limits were to leave, the menfolk would follow and those States would suffer economically. Sadly, we know that won’t happen for reasons of wealth and education. Also, why should you have to leave home for an abortion (or a job for that matter…).
 
Btw this law doesn’t just impact the women involved it also makes health care works culpable in law and open to prosecution.

It’s really scary when you see what now is possible legally.
 
This is the culmination of a project that started when Reagan became the first US president to say he was anti-abortion.
There has been a longstanding, well organised and funded anti-abortion movement working towards this. It has also been helped by many acts of terrorism against abortion providers.
Although it isn't nationwide yet, it will be if the GOP win the next election and take control of the Whitehouse, the Congress and the Senate and maintain the filibuster, abortion providers still operating will now face even more aggressive threats due to them being fewer in number.
Thomas has already published his wishlist for overturning other precedents so the battle lines are clear.
Very dark times for the country supposed to be the leader of the free world.
