No, the big brands are the worst. They usually increase the price a few months before Black Friday then reduce the price back down to what is was for Black Friday and say oh look how good is this offer but it’s just the same price it used to be.
 
Amazon are selling the ASICS tennis shoes I like for £200-£300 a pop.

On the ASICS website they're 30% off and selling for about £90.

They're often quite hard to get hold of in a decent size, which I assume is why Amazon think they can take the ****, but seems to be plenty available too.

Mental.

The best sales are always when a product is being replaced by a new model. It is the only time of the year that sales are genuine. Black Friday aren't real sales, they are usually just targeted marketing by raising prices in advance so it looks like a big discount.

In Amazon's case it is all governed by the algorithm they use for sales.

Go look at https://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/ at any time for the item you are looking for using the items sku number (looks like B091B238MZ) or whatever you are looking to buy.

You can see a graph of the price history from that

So the item gets pumped and then dumped to try to get sales. Popular items do not have the variation that seasonal or occasional items do.

Ebay is always a great way to compare the price. Actually, this year i've tried my best to stay away from Amazon so I can go back to the DIY stores and physically check out some of the products and get advice on tech stuff. Sometimes it works out cheaper at the store but only if you bike lol ;)

Not always. I tracked my tv price leading up to it and bought it 3 weeks before and it was £799 down from £949 at RS, but available in an eBay deal for £799 with 1 year warranty. I got RS to match it and they reduced it on BF to £699 so I got the extra £100 back, it might go a Bit lower in January but that is later in the product life cycle then November, and I will have had 2 months of use out of the item by then.

Some Black Friday is bunk but if you are savvy you can make good savings.

Bit the bullet and went for the TV and soundbar we wanted anyway. John Lewis click and collect is decent, there to pick up from Waitrose down the road this afternoon.

TV being delivered by AO the day after move in 👍

Yeh, they are sometimes cheaper then but those sales are probably the true price. You shouldn't be buying at full price ever unless you want it on the day of release which is daft unless it's the top spec and you are a gadgetphile. The only time sales are genuinely below what they want to sell it for is when the next model is due and they are clearing stock. Some of the best tech never reaches clearance though so it isn't always possible to get clearance prices.
 
Got a PRS Hollowbody II Piezo for £599, RRP is £1,100, although I had seen them at £950 a couple of weeks ago. might have to sell a guitar to create the space for it in my rack.
