Almost 300 dead in 2 days

I hope and pray that the last 2 days reported mortality rates are an anomoly as the last 2 days figures, if they become the new base figures are frightening. We have jumped from 40-50 straight to over a hundred deaths per day.

I do know that 2 days does not constitute a pattern, and as I said let's hope these figures prove to be a blib, for the timebeing.

Stay safe folks

That is awful, so, so sad & depressing
I hope you're right with it being a blip, 😔

The "40" was for an 8 hour period. We're sadly following the track of countries like Italy, Spain and some USA states. It must be grim in these ICU wards.

It does sound & look grim bear, those NHS are walking in to God knows, just facetimed my daughter who goes back on Monday & just kept telling her stay safe love, it's frightening

Devil’s in the detail in this one.

I see the Government has started using the wording “of those hospitalised in the UK xxx have sadly died”. The clear implication of this is that others are dying in a non-hospital setting, such as at home or in a care home.

True number is therefore sadly higher.

So some creative account is happening then. I think it was being suggested on another thread somewhere.

It'll be the same across the world.
France are only counting those that die in hospital wards and won't perform post-mortems tests to determine if coronavirus was the cause of death if it's outside of that.

Many thousands more will have died world wide than has been officially reported, sadly.

Yes, I entirely agree with that. Also, to be fair to the Government, it’s a lot more straightforward to count deaths within hospitals than elsewhere, particularly if you’re trying to report them within 24 hours.

Was really just flagging it up to point out that, as grim as these recent statistics are (and we know they’re going to get worse), the true picture will be worse still.
