I'd of had him when he was at Brentford. Class. That's years ago
To be fair Sunderland fans think he will be a massive miss. They can't understand why he's not been retained . So I guess he's been decent for them? A bit of added experience for us. I thought he was older than 30

Hard to see it happening as he’s 30 but I can see why he might be bought as the likes of Barlaser and Payero aren’t good enough to sub Howson.
Let’s face it we can’t expect to keep Howson on the pitch for 90 minutes every match. I was hoping maybe that McGree could fill this role but perhaps MC doesn’t trust him either.
It’s gong to be an interesting last few weeks of the transfer window that’s for sure.

Pritchard is not a central midfielder by any stretch of the imagination so he would never be a sub for howson to begin with

Seems ironic that he's leaving due to their transfer policy of preferring younger players but that's what we are doing also

There was a lot of noise around Riley wanting a PL move in the stands yesterday.
Apparently he is not happy starting on the bench. Hopefully, it’s just idle gossip, and there is no truth to the rumours. I for one would be miffed if he left now, especially without an adequate replacement. In addition to which he played a part in getting his compatriots Silvera and Glover to come to Boro. I doubt he would have done that if he was hankering to be away.
As an aside, he did kiss the badge when he scored in the cup against Huddersfield

Pritchard would be a decent Mowatt replacement, but plays further up the pitch than Howson.
Why are we linked with every type of fecking midfielder apart from a genuine ball winning CM? Why can other clubs pick up these African players from, like, French Sunday Leagues and they end up flogging them for £30m. Why can't we find one???

Best guess, either he wanted a new longer contract for abit of stability, Sunderland said no or suggested he’d have to take a pay cut.
Or he wants game time and the signings of Bellingham and Dack have pushed him down the pecking order.

If he's fully fit, I'd expect him to start. One of our best players and we might have won with him on from the start. I'd be surprised if there wasn't interest in him.
