Send him out on loan to a league one club get a bit of experience.Get coulson of the books and brig in maybe a striker for added competition in January.

I think by January Carrick will have seen enough of Gilbert to keep him around the squad or send him out.

As it stands it appears we have enough players in the attacking third to allow him to leave. The lad desperately needs some solid game time

Wouldn't be surprised to see either Silvera or Rogers go out on loan either.

We've got:

Mcgree
Forss
Crooks
Jones
Greenwood
Silvera
Rogers
Gilbert

competing for 3 places. Definitely space for 2 to be allowed to leave on loan for game time. Carrick will have a good idea of which ones are at the level for first team for football by now.

Roger’s who laid on that assist for Izzy? He’s going nowhere, neither will Silvera in my opinion.

He's been a bit of an odd one.

£600,000+ fee, our first summer signing, and he's effectively been non-existent, even when we were struggling or chasing games.

He's had a few injuries, including in pre-season, but I'm struggling to see why we agreed to a fairly substantial compensation fee for a player with limited first team experience that we don't really look like using.

Coburn has scored a goal but it doesn't mean a loan is out the question.

Is he going to benefit more from getting 10 mins each week from the bench or playing 60-90 mins each week in League 1?

I think Rogers is more likely to stay. Silvera will go out on loan I think but there's not really space for 8 players across those 3 positions.

I think that our summer signings are at various stages of development and readiness for a first team place, which wasn't evident initially, but now seems to be a little clearer.

I think Greenwood, Rogers, Silvera, VDB, Bangura, ELL, Engel & O'Brien are all players that are seen as being either regular starters or making a significant contribution from the bench.

Of those only O'Brien is one that I believe the club sees as being at his peak i.e. he's not one that they can develop and improve.

Despite Gilbert not getting many minutes I wouldn't write him off yet - it may just be the case he needs a little longer to impose himself. Until two games ago Greenwood was being spoken about in a similar vein.

The goalkeeper signings speaks for itself.

Can only see Gilbert going to be honest.

That would be 7 for 3 places, but some of them are effectively our third choice centre forward option too.

Plus we'll lose McGree and possibly Silvera for a month in January.

We will often change the front 4 in games I think. We've started doing that and it works a treat. Like American football. So we need loads of resources, which I think is why we bought so many.

We needed someone to do the Hoppe role.

i watched him for the u23 on friday night he didnt really stand out plus hes quite slight too

Well he was Captain last year of Brentford reserves and it was his 3rd full year with them and the way it was spoken about is they play all over Europe and UK not in a league so they play at a higher level than any of the U21 league setup. So you'd think if anyone was going to need less development time than our other projects , it would surely be him. So playing in U21's for him unless just getting match fitness is a step backwards. I'd give it more time. He certainly had injuries and knocks in preseason which has altered what we can do with him. Agree he looks very slight and Champs defenders could probably shoulder him into the stands with a very light touch

We've seen nothing of Gilbert yet.. the recruitment seems to have been spot on so far.. lets see shall we.. he might just pop up on the scene at the right time and be exactly what we are looking for? January will be very interesting to say the least! We've done our homework and we've got a full squad.

One spot for an over 21 player.. 3 loan space available if needed.

Will Dijksteel be back on the scene? Will Clarke be back on the scene? Do we nip into the loan market for a bit of extra cover on the goalkeeping front?

12 Striker - Julián Carranza from Philadelphia Union is the name i've made up..
13 Goalkeeper - Caoimhin Kelleher on a short term deal from Liverpool.. maybe?
20 Defensive Midfielder - Ardon Jashari was whispered a while back.. I wonder if we are still keeping tabs on him?
30 Central Defender - Nat Phillips to be snatched away from Celtic?
31 Right Back - Ben Johnson from West Ham?

(all the same names.. no ITK )

All peeled eyes will be on Ryan Giles and Chuba Akpom.. but with Engle and Bangura settling.. do we upset the apple cart.. same with Crooks and Greenwood for that number 10 spot.

No manager ever had a 100% success with signings. I'm not writing off someone I have never seen play, but he is clearly near the bottom of the pecking order as things stand.

He has had something like 8 league appearances in his entire career. If he is not going to get into the starting 11 soon, then I would prefer that he goes out on loan and gets 1st team football week-in week-out.
