Have we written him off already? Wasn't in the squad on Saturday and hasn't played a single minute for us yet.

If he's going in the u21's then fair enough, but many keep boasting on how many players we signed and yet 3 of them were keepers and a couple don't get a look in.

He wasn't in the squad and I'd think Smith Dijksteel and Engel will come in the 20 before him
A few reserve games will hopefully help him get a chance eventually

He must have come here in search of first team football else he wouldn't have turned down the Brentford contract?
He was nowhere near being a regular for the Brentford first team.

I think he thought the Championship would be his level where he could get regular gametime, but turns out he's probably not even good enough for this level.

I think he meant the club have written him off and will have seen him in training and pre season... i mean we do have form for this even though its ridiculous to do so.
Yes we did that with Luongo didn't we. He has been a regular at Ipswich since he joined and they are currently 3rd in the table.

Why would anyone write off a newly-signed 21 year-old footballer in the middle of September? Without ever seeing him play. It’s mad, what people post.
The coaches have been watching him daily for a good few weeks. They will have a good idea whether he's got what it takes (in their opinion of course). They will probably learn more about him in a week on the training ground than what they knew before we signed him.

I agree that it's daft for fans to write him off given most of us havent seen him play, but it's not daft for managers/coaches to form an opinion on him. It seems like their opinion is, he currently is not good enough. The same as Hoppe. And I would suspect that they realised Engel isn't good enough as well and that's why we dashed out to get Bangura.

Rumour is he's broke his hand, so it might be a while before we see him play.
If it is a broken hand these can be a bit dodgy. I broke (fractured) my hand years ago in a awkward place and was told I couldn't do anything for 8-10 weeks until it healed. Couldn't put a cast or anything on, so no footy until the docs said it was okay.

Carrick had an extensive answer about him in the press conference.

He's fit, he's just not making the team.
