Albion Rovers fans from Boro

Saw on that social media that three Boro fans went to watch Albion Rovers yesterday. Are you from Boro who support Albion Rovers, or exiled from Lanarkshire? I just randomly started supporting them because I liked the name, liked the shirt colours, liked the Tunnick teacake story, and because you couldn’t have a less fashionable team. Haven’t been this year unfortunately but normally go once a season to watch them their traditional one nil defeat.

Always had a soft spot for them when I was a kid in the summer holidays. I used go around the Glasgow area with my Grandad in his bone lorry. We would collect the old bones and waste from the butcher shops, and take them to the bone meal factory in Coatbridge, ah happy days

Yeah, went to see civil service strollers v Rovers yesterday! Terrible game, awful ground but that’s lowland league football! Supported rovers since ‘85 when we bought Bernie. To be honest I love going, I’ve seen them in quite a few different grounds and always have a great time, I have made some brilliant mates over the years and get to have a pint in some interesting towns! It’s proper football. Both teams came into the bar after the game for a drink and food and I was chatting to the manager! If anyone wants a great day out, Rovers play Berwick on the 20th April in Berwick, a great town for a few beers! Our game v dirty Leeds is now on a Monday!

Great post. That's what football's all about: random affiliations; mad odysseys into unexpected locations

I've had some authentic old skool experiences in my time but going round Glasgow in my grandad's "bone lorry", that's the equivalent of Bianca Jagger blowing me in Studio 54 while Bowie shagged her up the **** - or something

lol used to love it, we used get spoilt in the butchers shops with Flat sausage rolls and Scotch pies etc before he had a lorry he or his dad used to use a Horse and Cart to collect the bones, but that was before my time ;)

My dad used to rave about 'ingin' (onion) pies, though I never had one. Mention of those little round beauties has git me fair salivatin' but was probably his terrible Scottish diet that took the auld fella long before his time alas . I've never had a "flat sausage roll" but I have vivid memories of frying up a square of saster and seeing with alarm the half inch of beef fat that would be shed into the frying pan.
The other cholesterol- inducing delicacy (that I did sample) was an ice-cream from the 'Tallies' (Italian cafes). Washed doon wi' a glass of Vimto (far superior to Irn Bru imo)

lol yeah frying pan used to be about an inch deep in fat they rarely seemed to changed the fat, deep fried sausages, heading over to Glasgow for the first time in years in a couple of weeks, first thing I am going to do is find a cafe and have a flat sausage in a roll and a cup of tea can't wait!

Up for work so will be going to watch them play East Kilbride tomorrow. May not get there until just before kick-off so can anyone recommend anywhere to park. Is it just street parking?

Street parking is available but I always go on the train. The pies are good in the ground and there’s a spoons in town, not sure when they stop food though. St Andrew’s bar is the best watering hole.
