Akpom

Just noticed that PAOK have made qf of Europa conference, (same as Leicester). Akpom seems to be getting his game for them. Given the way wilder has changed a lot of players form around and most of our forwards are loanees, what do we think of Akpom playing a part here next season?

But I don't think it's likely, we'll try to sell for what we can.

Think he'd almost certainly look a lot better playing for Wilder (a low bar admittedly). Would've been interesting to see.

However we need to be looking for much better than him regardless of what league we're in. I suspect he's on a decent wage for championship level too.

Didn't look like the type of striker suited to Wilder's game but guess we'll never know. Expect him to be sold after being looked at in pre-season.

I imagine he will be given an opportunity in the summer. A year left on his contract and little to no chance of getting money back.

I think he's more suited to the Wilder style. I couldn't believe we signed him after missing out on Moore. Then proceeded to lump it up to him in exactly the same style.

You'd think he would be 'better' with the ball into feet and running off the shoulder. I'm not convinced. Yet he's worth another crack as clearly never going to excel in warnock ball.

He was a poor player for us. He didn’t work hard enough, didn’t close down or win headers, didn’t sniff out chances, couldn’t make anything for himself, had no real turn of pace to speak of and wasn’t physically imposing enough to play as a target man.

Apart from that, £3.5m well spent.

He was a square peg in a round Warnock hole. Doesn’t mean he couldn’t do better in a Wilder system.

I do think he’ll be gone in the summer, though.

If PAOK continue to do relatively well, hopefully they will decide to buy him and we get some of our money back. Don't think he has been prolific there, but part of a successful team. Another of our non-scoring strikers we like to buy!

Definitely a player there with good ol' Akpom, just not sure which sport or game yet

Before he arrived he had a reputation for working hard and pressing from the front, and whilst we didn't see any evidence of that under NW, I do wonder whether he can actually play in the CW system?
