Ajay Matthews

Millwall must have seen something in him to put him straight into the first team squad - scouting our reserves?

At that point in time If a players good enough they will play, however they do need to play to develop too which might be the case for some of our youngsters, Matthews maybe could of went on loan like lots of others have but the club and the player have chosen something different, good luck to him.

It's an odd one. I have been wondering where he's whilst we've had issues up top.

A big thing was made about the Chelsea link and having to tie him down on a big contract. Then nothing. We made our it was a big thing getting him to commit.

He made a few cameos at the back end of last season. I watched him at Cardiff. I remember him playing on the shoulder. I've never seen a guy look across the line so many times. Just constantly checking his position in relation the his marker.

Apparently Millwall see him as a first team player and not development. I hope we added a sell on clause etc.

LL outbound
Gilbert linked with a loan or perm to Swansea
Forss linked with Wrexham
Coburn a possible perm to Millwall

We'll have no forwards left for Monday 😂

It was only in October he signed a new long term contract and within three months we have let him go.

I think we need to read between the lines here and ask if it is football related why we've let him go or is there something else.

Ajay is related to my sister in law and I am sure my brother will break his neck to give me Ajay's side of the story. The club will be too professional to tell us there's.

Millwall apparently see him as "an old school" centre forward..

Hopefully for him they try & develop a more modern style of all round game..

I have heard lots of good things about Matthews but have to say having seen the 4 U21 games v European sides he didn't impress much apart from a 15 minute spell Vs Munchengldbach.

He spent a lot of time whinging at refs and waving his arms at team mates
At the moment Boro under 21 are 24th of 26 in the league table, suggesting perhaps that the current Academy crop are not the strongest group we’ve ever had.

We are on the precipice of a change in styles. Stick a big bloke up front, get a quick fella next to him. Get the ball forward quickly to exploit a high line. Matter of time. We have Forest riding high with Chris Wood up front and arsenal posting set piece stats that would give pulis a woody.
The next step will be when Utd get fat Sam in to ease their relegation fears and he gets them top four.
