Airplane!’ creator slams joy-killing threat: ‘Twitter 9 percent“

Some good points in that article especially about the perma-outraged 9%. I think that you COULD make Airplane! today but some of the jokes like the pilot making lewd suggestions to a young boy wouldn't make it but stuff like Otto the Autopilot, the singing nun, the running gags *what a day to give up..." no problem. Some of the cultural references are dated of course. But Team America is far more "edgy" and more recent.

Pablum. Good Word.
In the car ( passenger) with my wife with Radio 2 doing a 30 minute+ discussion on Strictly ( ffs) = Pablum.
So much Pablum on tv and radio now

Interesting article this from the writer of one my all time fave films but could it be made today and if not why not.

Some of the references may be out dated and Serra in attitudes and terminology may have changed.. but that’s always been the case. The main reason airplane couldn’t be made today would be that the cockpit in an aeroplane is now subject to a higher level of security.. plus aeroplane technology along with safety procedures have improved so much that the aeroplane would have landed much sooner resulting in a much shorter film with limited hijinks.

Animation lets you get away with stuff live action doesn't. South Park and family guy wouldn't wash as live action.
