Luckily for those on board - who were diverted from West Yorkshire - the pilot managed to nail the land on the second attempt.

Just arrived at Teesside from Aberdeen on a SAAB 340 turbo prop. Bit bumpy to say the least. Kudos to the pilot

Landing in a cross wind like that is called crabbing and the larger passenger jets are programmed to do that. Looks dramatic but, apparently not that difficult to do. To be fair the big airlines don't let the pilots do it, the auto pilot lands the plane.
