Acklam - Anyone know what's happened to this house?

I once had a house with a WC that was slung on the back of the house similar to that. Built of brick sitting on RSJ's built into a corner. Fair to say that folk never stayed on the bog too long.

When I eventually tore it down, it prompted a knock from local planning, after neighbour made a complaint. Had a barney with council who argued that it was listed, as the property was built in 1790 something.

The 1948 date stamp on the RSJ's came in very handy in the end.

I ask as I'm curious. My gran and grandad lived in this house in the 1950's and 60's, so I always have very happy memories of this property in it's wonderful prime. Drove past last week for the first time in about 30 odd years. and it looks like this now. It's on one of the avenues just round from Acklam shops.

Not after digging up dirt, just genuinely perplexed, as the rest of the street all seemed in pristine condition. Such a shame.

The architect went on to design Redcar pier. You’ve got to start somewhere.

love how the council turn up to your house instead of just checking on their computer if it was a listed building or not lol, someone racking up their mileage expenses for the month lol

I think the officer just assumed that every house on the village green was listed. Mine had been two houses knocked into one in 1920 something, so there was nothing original left to make it listable.
Tbf fair to the guy, he did call me a few days later to apologise for his mistake.

And I figured out who the neighbour was. Thereafter, he got to trim the top of his ajoining 12ft yew hedge himself. All 80m of it. Nosey beggar.
