A66 Cameras

I thought the white ones were some kind of security camera or maybe they're monitoring traffic. The average speed cameras are yellow.

Oh k might be mistaken then I thought you meant the white ones on the yellow poles
 
They rotate those white ones. After having to put up with those cameras and 40mph limit all that time last year it's frustrating to see them back in operation again so soon. Never ending!

Yep. I went along there at the start of the week. "Variable speed limits for your safety" 😖 with average speed checks for miles and miles of A66 where no work is going on at all during the day 👎
 
I’m guessing they are for seeing if someone’s broken down in the roadworks so they can tow the vehicle away. Signs saying stay with your vehicle if you breakdown free towing available.

With it being a slow speed there a probably chances of tailbacks etc and need to be monitored. Saw a Taxi last week cutting through the red bollard to get to the Airport, worth 3 points in my book.
 
Strange that essential resurfacing is required on a long stretch of A66 which has only recently been resurfaced Eastbound due to the major reconstruction near Elton and looks in perfect condition.

Still not sure why they upgraded it, more houses that side now perhaps.
