A174 Graffiti

People from Normanby will remember on the old railway bridge crossing over Ormesby Rd 'Balls to Beacham.'

I was once sat in the Cleveland Inn and we were talking about local graffiti and this came up. Out of the blue one of the old guys who was captain of the Yorkshire Bowls team at the time said "I did that." After a bit of bewildered silence and the spitting out of beer, he went on to tell us about how he went about doing it.

A thread about graffiti and no mention of Teesside's bestest ever graffito?

WILL THE THIEFS WHO TOOK MY GEARBOX PUT IT BACK OR I WILL SEARCH YOUR CABINS

What is this board coming to?

During the miners' strike of 84, Co. Durham miners were reduced to poaching deer off the land of some Lord or other, in order to feed their families. He was reportedly absolutely furious and was repeatedly urging the police to take it more seriously than they apparently were. This got back to the miners, and one day on a bridge over the A1 appeared a big arrow with the legend "PENSHAW LADS EAT DEER!!'

It was there for a couple of years.
