When the mighty Boro defeated Manfield Town 2-0 in the 2nd leg of the ASC, after winning the 1st leg 3-0 this game was more or less a formality but a job had to be done & big Jck made sure a professional job was carried out when he picked as strong a team as he could

With goals from Bobby Murdoch & Graeme Souness our passage in to the ASC cup final was booked

Big Jacks team

Jim Platt
John Craggs
Terry Cooper
Phil Boersma
Stuey Boam
Willie Maddren
Bobby Murdoch
David Mills
Alan Willey
John Hickton
David Armstrong
Sub
Alan Foggon

Not many there that night. It was half term so I went down on a Halls Bros bus on the morning. Stood next to the tunnel, might have been a bus load or so behind the goal.

I was there until the Sunday staying with relatives, went to the Clipstone CW Club with my aunt Sylvia on the Saturday, her drink was a 'bottle of Nut Brown with a sherry' added to it. Hard core. Great club at the time, probably gone now

Love the fact you celebrate this rather quirky little triumph on our history - and the fact that it is a semi final against mighty Mansfield not a final too. TRULY British eccentricity.

I remember taunting Liverpool fans at Anfield in1979 that they had never won the Anglo Scottish Cup. Didn't come out on the best side of that argument!
