Ha yeah, probably cos it was written by a Boro fan….Really good honest bit of writing, strange not having the usual geordie propaganda smeared all over it
To be fair, his opening paragraph makes a direct comparison to their Semi Final last season rather than their normal league matches...We al know that isnt the norm.
We are also on the crest of a wave (to a certain extent) still under MC.
As said above, when we get back to the day to day our 'normal' crowd will come back. Dont get me wrong its still decent and the lads in the south stand do a cracking job, but the author of that snippet must realise that doesnt happen every week surelllllly.
Good point! To be fair, his opening paragraph makes a direct comparison to their Semi Final last season rather than their normal league matches...
I think the age of those going to Sunderland reflects their loyalty points system which goes back to year zero (or certainly used to).Nice to read a honest piece from a Geordie.
Of course it hasn't happened over night. I remember finding cards left in the old Star pub on Southfield Road with adjusted artwork from ww1 and ww2 - Rosie the Welder stuff with her in Boro colours and a women in evening gown looking out and up to the sky (used to recruit men in WW1) and saying go the Boro match. They were excellenty done. It was for game against Villa in the Premier League and we were in the bottom 3 and on a last chance for survival. We drew and effectively went down. Those were dark days, but on those cards I saw passion and innovation and by distributing them through the Town determination.
Previous to that in March 2009 the infamous MFC letter to fans in Block 53, telling them to be quiet, so 20 or so fans with four flags including the 53 Herbie style flag started it off and had to fight the Club. On Tuesday it was around 6,000. The great thing for me is the Red Faction belongs to ordinary fans. They have sometimes watched others, say in Germany and taken what they find useful. Fighting your own club also took resilence. Eventually the Club and RF have found a way to work together.
Ref age of Newcastle fans - I was surprised how old their fans were entering the ground at Sunderland. Most I would guess would remember Malcolm McDonald and John Tudor.
It's not a very inclusive system is it. There's virtually no way of working your way up the system.I think the age of those going to Sunderland reflects their loyalty points system which goes back to year zero (or certainly used to).
Long standing fans cumulating many points over a long time. Would not go down well on here.
I think it may have been adapted for that reason, but I can't be bothered to look into it.It's not a very inclusive system is it. There's virtually no way of working your way up the system.
It came from Twitter, where all tweets are scrutinised and independently verified.Ha yeah, probably cos it was written by a Boro fan….
Humpty would be in meltdown, if he was GeordieI think the age of those going to Sunderland reflects their loyalty points system which goes back to year zero (or certainly used to).
