I wouldn’t necessarily say that but we are a squad not suited to playing it out from the back
So what would change any of this being the case in any other formation? We've not enough athleticism/ nastiness/ defensive responsibility in the centre mid four options.
Our full back options aren't quick enough to play behind whoever is front of them.
Nobody wants to play a disciplined wide of the three ( other than Jones )
It worked well enough against Leicester last weekWe aren’t suited to 5 at the back either. If we had Bangura and Jones fit I’d say yes crack on, but we don’t.
Engel isn’t mobile enough, Thomas has no end product.
Same on the right Ayling isn’t mobile enough and Dijksteel has no end product and regularly gets caught ball watching.
So what would change any of this being the case in any other formation?
As depressing as that is to read, it pretty much sums up my feelings tooNo pace, no strikers, no bite/power/aggression in midfield, no leaders/fighters anywhere on the pitch.
We have a huge mental frailty in the squad when there's the slightest pressure to deliver.
Written off as under dogs we do alright, have to motivate ourselves, raise our game and win against average sides we fail nine times out of ten.
We have a squad of bottling fannies.

But teams like Bristol and Plymouth are coming and playing straight through us. Maybe we need to protect the point we start the game with and go from there at the minute. As a one off in a game we knew we couldn’t outplay them, completely different against a team that wants a point, we would never break them down.
