A Question of Sport

I see the BBC have finally allowed the axe to fall on this once great programme and are stopping production after five decades.

I always thought this was a great programme and was a must watch when growing up. My mum was brilliant at answering the questions.

It is the current format that killed the programme, and I was just reading that whilst Sue Barker presented it, viewing figures were regularly between four and five million. Recently they dropped below one million.

Brilliant back in the day. Just like Top Gear etc. Just died a death with its new 'direction'.

I've not watched it for over 5 years. It could be 10. So probably shouldn't be commenting. I just have a fair idea how it changed being on the BBC.

We will be talking about Soccer Saturday soon. Absolutely going down the pan😕

It's already gone down the pan, the pundits are all terrible.

I watched it a few months ago didn’t know half the guests and couldn’t name half the pictures either.

Seemed to have lost its format.

Sam Quek had the broad range of knowledge a captain needed but the format changes were unnecessarily complicated for what is just a quiz show.

Paddy McGuinness was the wrong choice for a host, too. It needed an anchor not a centre of attention.

Shame it's gone, I did try watching it, but maybe they'll resurrect it in a more standard format at a some point.

The BBC should be axed. We pay our licence fees every year for utter garbage. Years ago it was an institution and we'd religiously look at what programmes were on throughout the week.
It's now too PC IMO. Formats of programmes are altered to ensure all aspects of society are represented. However the focus should be on providing quality entertainment.

I agree with virtually every comment here, a once great programme that has been totally trivialised!

Has been a staple in our home forever until the revamp. Not interesting or enjoyable at all since and I think we watched a dozen episodes, at most, in total since.

Shame. It was fun and good clean, honest entertainment.

There have been some terrible decisions at the Beeb this year: the reformatting of QOS, the demise of Football Focus in the hands of the execrable Alex Scott, getting rid of Ken Bruce and the loss of Pop Master….one of the few positives is the appointment of Amol Rajan on UC.
