is not a recognised term in UK employment law.

seems to be picking up a pace as an option for industry, looks like the schitty end of a stick to me.

Very much an American term. Yes, you can keep your job, but you won't get paid. Labour law is more-or-less nonexistent here.

They are getting paid. Not sure the details are all worked out but I think employers will get 80% back via hmrc payroll. Employers can pay full wage if they want.
