7th most expensive club to watch in English football.

You know what I do when I'm not happy about the price of something,? Vote with my wallet and don't pay.
If everybody who was unhappy didn't pay for one season then I'm pretty sure it would have a greater impact.
If the club saw that, say, half of season ticket holders were not renewing and they told them it was cos they were too dear then they'd have to have a serious look at that.

Cant the club just withdraw the free pint offer and reduce the cost of a ST by £100 instead?

Those with existing ST ( and have saved the money knowing/ have the cash in the bank anyway ) ... They don't need the favour really.

The rediculous added costs of a new ST, short windows for those families without a grand at short notice , walk up prices, under 18 costs ( beyond the creche of family zone ) and over supplementation of the older discounts are a bigger issue IMHO

Only Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa Liverpool & Bournemouth are more expensive.

Genuinely interested. Justify it.

I don’t think it’s about justifying it, as such. It’s pretty clear we shouldn’t be 7th on the list if you go by commonly acceptable metrics.

But you could also make the same argument for Spurs being second and suchlike. They win feck all, why are they second. Haringay is also deprived.

The reason we’re 7th is nothing “morally justifiable” but for a number of other commercial factors that I doubt many of our fans will accept at face value.

I think we have to Gibson a chance to explain himself now though. And vote with our feet depending on how we interpret this week’s PR exercise. I’ve already renewed, but am interested nonetheless.

The justfification, from a footballing perspective, would be along the lines of if we charge more than our rivals and get similar crowds then we have more money available and can out-compete on signings etc.

I know it's not that simple but if I was wanting to appease the hordes that would be the rationale I'd be starting with.

I can't speak for everyone but if the early bird deadline hadn't been stupid and the accompanying email had some platitudes and a spiel based on the above I'd probably not have given it a second thought.

The furore is as much to do with the how as with the what - plus the unfortunate run of results and lack of positive transfer activity. Perfect storm.

That'll wash whilst more expensive than sheff wed..

When you take into account the amount of home games you get in the champo compared to the Prem, the per game cost actually places us 12th. The free pint thing probably pushes us closer to the cheapest end of the Prem in terms of value for money.

Which is still too much mind, considering where we are.

The free pint thing should be ignored for all comparison purposes. Less than half of all season ticket holders are entitled to it and a lot of them don't use it / want it.

No potential new ST purchasers will get it.

Other clubs offer other bonuses within their ST packages which we don't consider.

If Gibbo wants to continue to offer it as a bonus to what he classes as his loyal supporters then crack on but it's got no benefit to around half the season ticket holders and any potential new ST putchasers

Its a flawed statistic as doesn't tell you how many tix are available at the cheapest price. Some clubs it could be 250 special tiny area and at other could by a whole section of one stand being thousands of seats. Plus Prem teams play less games , 19 homes games vs 23 so there is value descrepancy just there. Our adult ticket is £574 so there's an error there and who is to say there is not more errors in what has been compiled.

When a club like Chelsea are charging just £5 more you know it's ridiculously priced. Gibson what are you thinking??
You have to be careful with comparisons like this. Yes Chelsea s cheapest ticket is £595 but that is in their family area so a single adult couldn't get that one.

Their most expensive is nearly £1000 and the majority have to pay around the around the £800 mark.
