There is a big difference between being fed up with poor performances & being bored of Boro..
This season is limping to massive disappointment & we're not seeing changes to arrest the situation..
depends on the window you use, how short and long term you look.
We have had 15 years of largely poor second tier football.
Of the field:
- We've had massive debts, these have been largely wiped out
- Since the arrival and investment in Karanka we have struggled with the wages to revenue %. This has been largely arrested and this year should see us at less than 100% for the first time in years
- we have had a squad of older ready made championship players, but all this has led to is cycle of being trapped in a squad with little resale value and large wages
- we have had to rely on expensive loans, that has been partially addressed
- we have failed to make significant sales in the transfer market, this has been addressed
- We have struggled to invest because of FFP-debt incurred by splurging big long contracts under Monk, this has been addressed.
On the field:
- We have lacked a consistent philosophy, this has been partially addressed
- this has led to us flip-flopping players that don't fit the system, this has been partially addressed
- we have had technically poor players and been stuck with them, this has been partially addressed
- we have struggled to score goals for most of the last 15 years, this has been partially addressed
For balance it isn't all sun and fun. We are back to where we were 2 years ago without a striker of enough quality, and losing too many games through poor defensive play. But generally strategically we are moving forward
