67% of fans think that VAR makes football less enjoyable

Me three. I absolutely hate everything about it. I don’t know anybody who actually thinks it is enhancing our game.
Plenty who were supportive of it have changed their tune also.

I am pro VAR but recognise there are issues. Mainly because it is highlighting how poor our officials are. You kind of forgave them for getting things wrong when they didn't have a perfect view etc but giving them an unlimited amount of time just shows how bad they are.

Things that annoy me most about VAR are people that complain about marginal offsides and don't understand that offside isn't subjective, you are either on or off and it doesn't matter whether it is milimetres or metres.

It should only be used for obvious errors and not for millimetres. The decision should stay with the on field referee if not obvious.

I hate it now, still seething about celebrating like mad when Lingard scored in the last minute against the Dutch and it was ruled out for a toenail after a few minutes of checking.

It will work right in the end, if it helps make the right decisions is that not a good thing? Fans have been moaning about wrong decisions for years. Yes there has still been a few questionable decisions but people forgotten all the ones it has helped to make right, that's what people wanted after all or perhaps people need to accept that referees are human and will always make mistakes as long as they are genuine honest ones what more can you ask for, it is such a difficult job, if you accept things will never be perfect and you take the tough with the smooth and by the law of averages things even out overtime, then there will be no need for VAR but as long as people clamour for absolute perfection the search will go on.

What is the process they are using to objectively determine by the millimetre? Because it just seems like a load of old horse**** to me. How are they able to determine the exact moment the ball leaves the foot? Or if a part of a players shirt or a stray hair is further ahead than the opponent's nose. I don't buy it.

They've since issued guidance that they should only be making offside calls when it is clear and obvious I believe.

The only people they should really be paying attention to are the season ticket holders of premier League clubs, as they're the ones who've had to sit mystified throughout the whole debacle.

It needs to be banned for goals. When a goal is scored the refs decision is final, so we can enjoy our football again.

No it isn't. Not at all. The important thing is that a game is enjoyable to watch for the paying spectators. My joy at maccarones header was not tempered in the slightest by the fact we only got into Europe that year due to Fulham not being awarded a goal the season before when the ball crossed the line.

In that case John, you have to accept mistakes will be made and just get on with it. If all.that matters is that the game is enjoyable for spectators why did we employ Karanka and Pulis?

No, like many other Boro fans I didn't think Karanka's style of football was enjoyable to watch for most of the time, effective yes, enjoyable no.

A change to stop 'micro analysing' in VAR decisions can only really work if the TV broadcasters stop doing it. If not, it will be a case of referees ruling out an offside, only for the pundits to draw their red and blue lines in 1080P telling the country how the referee got it wrong.

I have not watched much uk football with VAR on telly recently.

I have now seen quite a few VAR decisions here at our home stadium. As we have VAR in La Liga 2.

Here the game is not stopped the second a VAR review is called. Play continues to a natural break. If a VAR review is called the referee pauses the match. When the natural break has occured. He then goes over to the VAR screen by the half way line. Reviews the video himself (herself). Then the ref announces the result after he has watched the evidence.

Is VAR done the same way in the UK as it happens here?

A bit of a daft survey though isn't it - there was only going to be one answer.
The acid test is if fans walk or switch off away because of it - not sure there is any evidence of that yet.
I'm not a footy fan so personally am ambivalent but quite enjoy prem fans getting wound up about it when it affects their team.
Perhaps if we were in the prem and it affected me I'd have a different view.
