45% DROP IN BRITISH ACTS BOOKED FOR EUROPEAN FESTIVALS POST-BREXIT

I am not being critical or trolling- but Switzerland must do a tremendous amount of trade and movement including paperwork with EU countries, without being in the EU - why is it not possible for the UK to have the same relationship with the EU, if the UK Parliament voted for that in the future?

Switzerland has GDP per capita of $93,000 one of the highest in the World, so I assume they have not lost out from not been in the EU.

They are in the customs union aren't they? And Schengen.

Therefore have to comply with the EI laws the brexiteers don't understand but nonetheless want rid of

And the single market.

Bring it on, I'd love to be the same as Switzerland at this point.

Pretty sure it's not what most leave voters were voting for though.

As said before the vote in 2016 was to leave the EU nothing else, the other stuff was added by UK politicians. The 2019 election was not second EU Refendum and even if it was, the Conservatives only got 43.6% of the vote.

I assume there is agreement that Switzerland has not suffered economic hardship from being outside fo the EU and the key for economic success is the Customs Union.

I am trying to find a route that a significant part i.e. 60% of the UK population would find acceptable - I don't think you will get more than that for anything.

It’s fair to ask what the Brits were afraid of in enabling short term visas for artists, but if the EU didn’t want to offer unilateral easy access to British artists and their entourages and now their festivals and concert venues struggle for decent acts then that’s their shout.

I think you've missed the point Ted lad. the EU DID offer exactly that.

I can only speculate that the Tory government declined the offer because it would establish a principle that might prove difficult to deny the next "special case" exemption? Dunno, doesn't seem logical to me.

That fundamentally misses the point of this entire thread or the NME article. 👌

The EU did want to offer short term visas.

The problem is the Brits, I suspect no british government can be allowed to make such concessions whilst we still have this hardcore group of brexitists. Anything sane, like joining the customs union, was complained about as being "Brexit in name only". So sadly, due to what can only be described a s a brainwashed cult of people, the UK is being held to ransom and has to accept the worst possible deal because, hey, "Brexit means brexit".
