4 day working week benefits

Yep whilst the plebs of society will be expected to still work 5 or 6 day shifts and I say that as a man who works four on and three off.

I am not sure that is a new discovery Bear. My current client doesn't care whether I work 2 hours a day or 20. He cares that I fulfill my work obligations.
As Randy infers, that isn't common across all jobs or in all companies. Microsoft in Japan found there was a 40% productivity improvement by the whole workforce going to 4 days. (Although it was just a month in the summer and may have been a publicity stunt as they haven't proposed doing it long term.)

The hourly paid workforce, of which there are millions, will have to see their rates rise for them to benefit.

Well Randy raises a good point. There are plenty of jobs that are dependent on, I dunno, customers, so you can't do 5 days worth of work in 4 days.

Not sure there is an answer to that particular problem, but it isn't just plebs as Randy points out. Your GP for example or a thoracic surgeon

I know 4 GPs very well. They all work 4 (long) days.

None of them are footie fans . . . but I don't hold that against them. Sailing seems to be the GP winding down activity.
Not golf? Our old GP is a golfet not sure about his younger partners. Maybe he has a boat called on the links or something.

Too many people would tap them on the shoulder for a diagnosis as they're about to tee off. The middle of the ocean or lake saves them from that.
I wonder if that happens. All our GP's live out of our village and I wonder if that is deliberate so you don't get patients whipping out their ingrown toenail at a restaraunt

I've been saying this for ages. With the advent of technology and an increase in the workforce numbers with women getting jobs, the five day working week is antiquated. People have always just thought I was being wacky.

Over the last 150 years the average working hours has dropped, except for the last decade.
The same with life expectancy which since the tories got in has dropped for the first time since records began excluding world wars.
And yet the plebs continue to elect their betters to run the country

Can't see us being happy only being able to go shopping, get a taxi or eat out four days week or indeed pay more as Amazon etc have to employ twice as many people. Would be great for me, but I'm not young or on zero hours!
