And I didnt even go to the club for a refund, still have my coach ticket

The game was away to our messiahs team Notts County, that season 1990-91 with Colin Todd as manager was a strange one, it seemed up to xmas we struggled at home to win & generally won away, I remember going to Swindon, Watford, Brighton, Oxford, drawing at Newcastle & thinking we'll beat Notts County too as we were sitting in the top 6 positions not really threatening the top 2 as we were to inconsistent

On this day we had a debutant & a return to the 1st team of an 86 legend Gary Parkinson, with Colin Cooper out injured for a spell Colin Todd brought Gary back in to the 1st team, while on the bench wearing No14 was Colin Walsh on loan from our future manager Lennies Charlton, Colin became our 10th loaned player

The match itself, ian Baired scored his 12th of the season, what a signing he was proving to be, they equalised, Stuart Ripley restored our lead with his 1st goal of the season, Notts County came back & equalised, all 4 goals in the 1st half, 2nd half seen only one goal scored & it wasnt us & a penalty balooned over the bar, from us

When we played Notts County in the playoffs I remember thinking to myself on the journey home after been knocked out, if the league scores, winning 1-0 at home & losing 3-2 away had been repeated in the playoffs we'd have gone through after extra time due to the away goal rule

I still remember Ian Baird's penalty flying over my head. Also remember the sports hall (?) wall behind the goal at the far end the Ripley kept hitting in the first half with his sliced crosses. A frustrating day - even more so for you!
