campervan like vw or just a motorhome? Id argue just to rent one of the latter

We are doing the Scottish north coast 500 in 2 weeks and have rented a 4 berth motorhome for 5 nights for £600 inc two drivers and a pet. It's 2 year old, unlimited mileage, central heating, toilet, shower, 2 big beds etc. £1000 excess but £60 a year for excess waiver insurance.

Depends how much you will use it. It maintenance costs, storage, effort to clean it etc id much rather just payg to rent than sink costs like 40k into it

We've had several for 15+ years now and as previous posters have said:
*Wait a year or so as prices are just so high ATM
*Hire first, we did for 2 years to decide whether we liked the lifestyle and to determine a layout that suits, you cannot change this!!!
*Personal choice but avoid VW's - overpriced and under specced, unless you just want to "live the dream"
