At home to Cardiff City an addenance of 4,259, seen our 1st win of the season & the return of Tony McAndrew, who was part of the transfer that seen Darren Wood going to Chelsea & Boro along with bringing Tony Mac home were given £72k

The attendance was the lowest attendance at Ayresome Park since 2nd December 1920 v Everton, Boro winning 3-1

I actually thought the Cardiff attendance was the lowest at that times, World War 2 apart, we were to get lower attendances later in the season

3-2?

Nice warm day - lots of room on the Holgate terraces to stretch out - it was a battle to get a win - down to the the bare bones - the club kept selling to balance the books but that just reduced crowds further. Mick Kennedy, Mick Baxter, Gary McDonald, Paul Sugrue? Paul Ward? and then Darren Wood probably our best player all gone in the Summer of 1984 and very little brought in - Big Mal walked out in March because he would not sell promising young players. The winter of 1984/5 was the bleakest ever for me to follow MFC (on the pitch).

Yes, good post Red

Currie got a brace & David Mills strike, taking both scorers to four each for the season

That was a hard season, I was a ever present regular with my dad in the chicken run, near to Cliff Mitchell's green press box
