27% of Brits think Johnson is honest

are people really that thick? absolutely terrifying!
People are that thick. Or they just don't care. A lot of it is probably apathy. If you're not politically engaged you might be charmed by his bumbling public school persona. The majority of the public won't scrutinise and see his complete lack of ability.

It's just shocking that they STILL can't see it, when his incompetence is actually killing us.

The persona that Johnson carefully crafted over the years was allowed to flourish by the avoidance serious questioning, and reliance on the shallow "It's only Boris"character he created. But in the end.
Most self constructs very rarely survive intense and knowledgeable scrutiny.

That's kind of my point. He won't get the scrutiny, we know that. But his incompetence is killing people I can't believe more people aren't upset at this.

Remember you vote for your constituency in our system. So you could argue 44% didn’t vote for him
Cooper, you are right of course but many people I know voted for Johnson to Get Brexit Done via their constituency candidate. Most couldn't even tell you who their local MP is. It was all about Johnson.

it was all about Jeremy Corbyn. For or Against.

the media (barons) in all its forms presented that - because they felt it was in their best interests, not yours.

On a lighter note -- of the 27% I would suggest that it depends on how the question is framed - & that 2% were duped, 5% mis-understood the question, 3% said it for the money, and the other 17% were his ex wives, mistresses, courtesans, girlfriends, partners, concubines, dalliances and his assorted off-spring disguised as well loved obedient children, they ALL believed him.

I can understand the apathy around MP's honesty, it is not uncommon for someone to hold a belief that they all lie, accurate or otherwise. But for 27% to report they think he is honest is ludicrous. They must never read a paper, watch the news. Even if you read the daily mail you would be aware of lies.

We really need parliamentary reform, and not of the Cummins flavour. It should be criminal to lie to the house.
Totally this.

it should also mean a fresh election when a party disregards the manifesto they were elected on.

False campaign pledges, inaccurate information and false accusations against an opposition party or member of that party should also be a criminal offence.

Its time politics was cleaned up, especially with regard to financial backing and the ties between financial backers, individual party members and the party as a whole.

This concept of I disagree with them therefore they are as thick as mince has always surprised me.

I am sure if you asked people do you think Corbyn was a success in the last election 27% of the members on here would agree. The fact he lost substantially to a known liar and fantasist will not change their opinion.

Then ask the question SaB - I think you will find you are wrong. Also political allegiance has got nothing to do with a question about Johnson's acquaintence with the truth. You could happily vote Tory and accept that he is a liar, as lots of people do.

We lost the last election because of Corbyn and his none stance on Brexit.

One thing the public will not put up with is neither being up nor down .

I have faith that BJ will bring about a resurgence in Labour supported by Starmer

What happened to cooper

Is he a tory mp yet?
He went over the other side and b*tched and moaned about his treatment. Banging on about how he's owed £35 or summat and even they didn't like him.

Presumably he's whingeing to his pals about his mistreatment. Oh, wait... surely he'd need pals for that.
