So you'd see it as a distinct possibility. Especially if Howson leaves (also maybe if he doesn't).

Guess it depends on whether Howson signs or not, but that seems to be taking its time. I can only think he’s waiting to see if he gets a better (longer contract) offer from elsewhere.

Lenihan could be exactly the sort of leader we’ve been missing for many years though.

Howson doesn't appear to be a motivator on the pitch like leadbitter was, truth be told we have never replaced him in the squad in this respect.

It doesn't matter if Howson does get the captaincy, Lenihan is a leader on the pitch and will motivate the team either with or without the captain's armband.
