2 week 'Circuit Breaker' lockdown imminent...

So do I need to buy extra bog rolls and pasta? Or is everyone gonna be 'normal' and not feel the need to empty the shelves😕

If it's any longer than 2 weeks then I shudder to think how many business/jobs are gonna go under. Some folk are just back at work and could be binned again. It's gonna be a bleak Xmas for many families (only having 6 round for scran is the least of the worries).

I don't see a point in time where it won't 'spike' as soon as we come out of any lockdown. We could shut down until January and it would spike soon as we went back to 'normal'. They say they even with vaccine only 1 in 10 will receive it in the first year..... Terrific👍🙄

So what is happening on Tuesday?
Its sounds like complete lockdown is round the corner ?
You cant continually pzz 60,000,000 people round like this without stiring civil unrest and causing economic devestation.
I read somewhere that 4M unemployed by January was a serious projection by the Confederation of British Industry?:(

Just done two weeks quarantine and now heading straight into lockdown, and there’s nowt wrong with me, great 🙈 The lack of physical exercise is ridiculous.

As soon as it’s over I‘m off out to the canaries again for some normality. Where if it’s needed a local lockdown is very much local and very much locked down And enforced.

The Singapore circuit breaker has worked well and got infection rates down but they are a more “compliant” nation on the whole. They have 100% mask wearing in public places and they are strict on bars and restaurants that don't put in adequate covid compliant procedure once they lifted restrictions.

However their circuit breaker also closed workplaces and not sure if this new idea proposes doing that.

Can't wait to see the blonde fcukwit wheeled out with his serious face on to spout off again after telling the country to get back to work and it'll all be over by Christmas.

You won’t.

Just announced that Whitty and Vallance will make the announcements without any ministers present.

I actually think it is not a bad idea, though probably for 4 weeks would give some measurable results that could be actioned.

Occasional partial lock downs like these may just control the IR enough to get us through the winter.

Too much was opened too soon and in the wrong order, that on top of being too slow to lock down, for me, means we will have a more violent second spike than most of Europe, so something needs to be done.

At the minute with no T&T to speak off, a failing testing regime means we have to do something

I think it's more of an 'appeal' to the public supported by graphs and statistics as opposed to making an announcement. Today will be a pre-cursor to a Churchillian type address from BoJo tomorrow 🤣

Work school great, enjoying yourself no. Blokes an r sole. 2 worst places open. Pubs unfortunately have not been stringent enough on it from what ive seen. A shame for the ones that are. And some are.

A lock down will only work if everyone adheres to it, and we know Brits cannot and will not do as they are told. On the spot fines for those who feel they are above it and break the rules. Once again this Government has failed to make it hard and fast to implement rules with its weak approach to the pandemic.

Only been out twice since restrictions have been lifted. A mixed bag I’d say. Some places have been really stringent. I’ve been impressed with the approach taken by some places. I like a beer but willing to sacrifice going for a drink if it means keeping people safe. There are other ways to enjoy yourself.

*Pro Tip*

if you eat enough pasta, you can cut right down on the bog roll part

NorfolkRed, this just isn't true, statistics show that 90% of people consider they and the people they know obey the lockdown measures that have been in place. Only 9% to some extent or another knew people that were ignoring lockdown rules.

In other studies it showed that Britain obeyed the lockdown rules better than some European countries and worse than others, France, Italy and Spain being the worst offenders.

There is some nonsense bandied about based on opinion when the data is there if you want to find it.

Our lockdown didn't fail because of non-compliance.
