Heads up for anyone interested in Boro memorabila, my brother has a 1998 Coca Cola cup runners medal for sale. He got it in a Yarm charity shop years ago but no idea who's it from - player or management. At the time he also picked up a commemorative Basel match item so my only guess is it could be from Schwartzer who was the only player in both squads. I tweeted Neil Maddiison who confirmed its the same as his. Someone might fancy it on here to add to their Boro collection.

Weird. I hope they weren't stolen goods dumped many years later. Or could it be from a collector who has passed away.
Hopefully not stolen, this was some years ago now when he got it in Yarm, could be from a collector. Would like to ask Schwartzer if he gave his away after leaving the club on not so great terms.

I feel you would need the provenance for it to be worth any real money.

Is it inscribed on the back or something, what makes you know its from our final?

Looking at the link, it looks like Vickers was selling all his medals, his Championship medal, FA Cup runners up medal and two Coca-Cola medals.

They either don't mean anything to him or he needed the money, either way, it is a sad outcome.

The insurance can make medals a problem.

Potential buyers need to check their home contents insurance policy if they are going to making big bids.

There is a risk the medal is a copy - the medal needs evidence of its purchase history e.g. receipt from charity shop and a receipt the donator had had say if they bought at auction.

Completely understand where you're coming from. Only thing I'd say is, it's quite a niche thing to copy with probably nott a big re sale market - a runners up medal from 98, looking at the Vickers one, its exactly the same (inc case and maker).

Found a replica from around then online - https://www.themedalman.com/product/coca-cola-cup-1994-95

Hi we would be interested in that for our exhibitions.

We have one coming up at the Dorman musuem, we would display it there.

Please DM or message us on Twitter @Boroshirtmuseum

Thanks

For £320, there are people out there that will counterfeit anything.
Bit of a snidey remark implying my brother is a con artist. Nice. You could probably easily get those photo's verified by someone in the know. I've looked at the Steve Vickers one for comparison (photo on the right), they both have a very distinctive stamp on the back at the bottom.
